A mysterious race of people who have been subtly altered by the energies of the Ethereal Plane. They live in small communities away from other civilizations and often dedicate their lives to studying magic. Though their societies are isolated, they are not without interest in the outside world and often observe those who pass through their territories unseen.

Physical Description: The Xanta are a tall, rather slender people in general. Their skin tones and and hair colors often match those of the humans of their surrounding area, but they appear rather indistinct at the edges of their frames. Their eyes are mostly solid white, with only a small dot of silver where a pupil would be.

Society: Xanta enclaves are very isolated from settlements of other races, often in uncharted wilderness areas. They do not often come into contact with outsiders, and are adept at disguising their towns to look like abandoned ruins. Most people, aside from scholars, are not even aware of their existence. When they do occasionally venture out into the larger world, they sometimes disguise themselves or simply do not answer questions about their race. They are a secretive people, and prefer to keep to themselves.

Alignment and Religion: Most Xanta venerate knowledge, and as such, neutral alignments are more common than lawful or chaotic. They value rules and strictures for the important role they play in maintaining a society, but they do not see these as things that should be followed blindly or without consideration. Their culture values good values over evil; though evil Xanta do exist, they generally have to hide this from others.

Adventurers: Xanta adventurers are rare, as most live their whole lives in the settlements they were born in. A few individuals are forced by outside circumstances to emigrate to other Xanta enclaves or to towns in the outside world. This usually occurs only if an enclave is destroyed or discovered by outsiders, or—on rare occasions— if a Xanta is exiled from their town as punishment for wrongdoing. Due to their close ties to magic and the ethereal plane, most Xanta take up spellcasting classes such as wizard, sorcerer, or cleric.
